The Grand Slams & Catastrophes 2024 is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has been approved by the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) for a maximum of 13.0 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
The Grand Slams & Catastrophes 2024 has been approved for Category “A” credits by the CAMRT and is also recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). This CE activity may be available in multiple formats or from different CE sponsors. ARRT does not allow self-learning activities to be repeated for CE credit in the same CE biennium.

John A. Kaufman, MD, MS
John A. Kaufman, MD, MS is the Frederick S. Keller Professor of Interventional Radiology at the Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
A native of Boston, Dr. Kaufman worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital from 1991 until 2000, when he joined the Dotter Institute. He became Institute Director in 2012, and the inaugural Chair of the Dotter Department of Interventional Radiology in 2017. He stepped down from this role in 2023 to become Chief Medical Officer for Cook Medical. He also maintains an active clinical practice in IR. His research focus has been on vena cava filters and aortic stent grafts. Dr. Kaufman has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications including 5 textbooks. He is an Associate Editor for CardioVascular and Interventional Radiology (CVIR). He has served as Chair of the American Heart Association (AHA) Council on Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, President of the SIR, Chair of the SIR Foundation, and President of VIVA Physicians. He currently is Secretary-Treasurer of the American Board of Radiology and past Chair of the OHSU Professional Board. Dr. Kaufman chaired the SIR/ABR Primary Certificate Task Force the achieved recognition of IR as a primary specialty of the American Board of Medical Specialties. He has been awarded the Gold Medal of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE), and is a Distinguished Alumnus of the Boston University School of Medicine.
Outside of work he is an avid coffee roaster and cook. However, his greatest achievement is that he convinced Cathy Hiller (now Kaufman) to marry him; together they have three children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 dogs.
