CME Credits
This group learning activity will apply for section 1 and 3 credits within the Maintenance of Certification program (MOC) of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
CAMRT Credits
This group learning activity will apply for Category A Credits within the continuing Education Credit Approval Program (CECAP) of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
Target Audience
This CME event will be of great interest to Interventional Radiologists, Radiology Residents, Interventional Radiology Fellows as well as Technologists and Nurses working in Interventional Radiology and any other healthcare provider with an interest in Interventional Radiology.
Needs Assessment
This program was developed based on feedback received from the evaluation forms collected during the SIR, CIRSE and CAIR Annual Meetings.
Meeting Learning Objectives
At the end of the meeting, the participant should expect to:
- Identify various types of locoregional pain blocks, list the indications for use and describe safe technical approach for each.
- List commonly used medications for pain control in the IR setting along with therapeutic dosing
- Identify the indications for geniculate artery embolization in the setting of Osteoarthritis pain control and describe safe technical approach
- Describe the process by which IR devices are be brought from initial concept to approved product for use in practice
- Describe the key factors to optimize procedural success and clinical outcome for the treatment of Pelvic Venous Disease in 2024
- List benefits and limitations for the treatment of HCC using cTACE versus DEBTACE
- Describe the benefits, risk and clinical outcome of using particle embolic versus glue in the setting of bronchial artery embolization
- List key updates in radiation exposure and protection
- Describe techniques for success in treating challenging CLI and PAD cases.
- Describe techniques for improving success in difficult iliocaval reconstructions and technical considerations to improve long term patency
- Identify the current best medical treatment for the management of benign prostatic hypertrophy
- List the indications for trans arterial embolization of primary breast cancer lesions and nodal metastases and describe technique for treatment.
- List the indications for trans arterial embolization of lung cancer lesions and mediastinal lesions and describe technique for treatment
- Describe the importance of mindfulness and its role in physician wellbeing in clinical practice.
- Describe new key developments in the management of of AVM in 2024
- Describe techniques for treatment of difficult renal tumours using cryoablation
- Identify indications and patient selection for treatment of breast cancer lesions using cryoablations
- Describe safe technical considerations when performing common IR procedures for paediatric patients including equipment sizing and contrast dosing
