Grand Slams and Catastrophes

CAIR is pleased to present the 5th Annual Grand Slams and Catastrophes course – a shortened 4-hour virtual event with Dr. Lindsay Machan as a keynote speaker. Eight case-based presentations of both unique “think outside the box”/extreme IR (Grand Slams) and M&M (Catastrophes) will follow, with a view to generate lively discussion from the faculty and attendees.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this event, the participants should be able to:

  1. Identify potential outcomes from routine IR case complications and develop strategies for avoidance.
  2. Identify potential outcomes from extreme IR case complications and develop strategies for avoidance.
  3. Explain common causes of medical errors in procedures
  4. Discuss various approaches, as well as tips and tricks, in order to get out of challenging and difficult procedural situations.
  5. Determine IR’s capabilities and limitations for fixing a procedural complication.

Accreditation/CME Credits

The Grand Slams & Catastrophes 2021 is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
