This group learning activity will apply for Category A Credits within the Continuing Education Credit Approval Program (CECAP) of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
This CME event will be of great interest to Interventional Radiologists, Radiology Residents, Interventional Radiology Fellows as well as Technologists and Nurses working in Interventional Radiology and any other healthcare provider with an interest in Interventional Radiology.
This program was developed based on feedback received from the evaluation forms collected during the SIR, CIRSE and CAIR Annual Meetings.

Robert J. Lewandowski, M.D., FSIR, is a Professor of Radiology, Medicine, and Surgery in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. He serves as the Director of Interventional Oncology at the Northwestern University Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Lewandowski joined the staff at Northwestern in 2006 upon completion of his fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. Dr. Lewandowski is a practicing interventional radiologist who specializes in liver-directed therapy. Based on his clinical oncology program, he has authored or co-authored > 250 articles for peer-reviewed journals on the application of liver-directed therapies for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Lewandowski also performs pre-clinical oncology research in the Northwestern University Interventional Oncology Laboratory and Center for Translational Imaging. In this capacity, he is developing and evaluating novel oncology therapeutics, delivery mechanisms, and imaging modalities. Dr. Lewandowski’s work has been supported by the National Institute of Health, American Cancer Society, the Society of Interventional Radiology Foundation, and through industry collaboration via the investigator-initiated trial mechanism.

Chair of the 2022 and 2023 European Conference on Interventional Oncology (ECIO), Philippe L Pereira muses on the status of interventional oncology (IO) in 2021, following more than a year of disruption from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Through his work on various European guidelines delineating cancer care pathways, he has been instrumental in shaping the discipline and flying the flag for IO within multidisciplinary working groups. “Most oncologists recognize the value of our minimally invasive therapies and know very well how to integrate our treatments into the therapeutic armamentarium that currently exists for cancer patients,” he says

Dr. Robert Abraham, MD, FSIR, FCIRSE, FRCPC
Bob Abraham is a practicing clinician and Interventional Radiologist at the QEII Health Sciences Center at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS. Dr. Abraham’s skills and experience cover all aspects of Interventional Radiology (IR), including minimally invasive cancer therapy, angioplasty/intravascular stenting for peripheral vascular disease, endovascular aortic repair, arterial embolization, and venous interventions. He has held leadership positions in IR and Radiology having served as President of the Canadian Association for Interventional Radiology (CAIR) and as Chief Examiner for Diagnostic Radiology at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. His research commitment and activity have resulted in over $4 million in research & development funding, and he has embarked on a journey to translate biomaterial innovations into commercial products that will positively impact patient care. His passion for education and research has been rewarded with teaching and research awards and he has been awarded Fellowship to the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE).
