This is your 2021 CAIR learning destination. \n  \n\n\n\nParticipating Faculty\n\nOrganizing Committee\nDr. Tara Graham\nDr. Veronique Caty\nDr. Gerald Gahide \nFaculty\nDr. Derek Cool – Percutaneous Ultrasound Gastrostomy (PUG): Gastrostomy Insertion Outside of the Angiosuite \n\nLearning Objectives:\n\n\n\nLearn the new technology for percutaneous ultrasound gastrostomy (PUG) technique\nUnderstand the potential roles for PUG within IR\nRecognize the potential pitfalls and challenges with the PUG procedure.\n\n\n \nDr. Derek Cool is an Interventional Radiologist and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Western University in London\, Ontario. \nDr. Cool completed his medical training in the combined MD/PhD program at Western University and continued with his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Western as well. He completed interventional radiology fellowship at the University of Toronto before joining the Department of Medical Imaging at Western in July 2017. \nHis clinical and research interests include enhancing ultrasound-guided interventions\, such as ultrasound-guided gastrostomy insertion and 3D ultrasound guidance for abdominal ablations. Dr. Cool has 33 peer-reviewed publications and recently completed the first-in-human clinical trial testing the percutaneous ultrasound gastrostomy (PUG) technique for g-tube insertion under ultrasound alone. He also has interest in percutaneous interventions for urological diseases and patented work from his PhD thesis developing 3D transrectal ultrasound for prostate biopsy was licensed by Eigen Medical for the Artemis MRI-TRUS fusion prostate biopsy system. \n\n\n\nRegistration\nCAIR MEMBERS:  \nOn-Demand Recording: FREE\n \nThis event is offered at NO COST for CAIR members.
